Love in Cinema

Forgive us for the long absence, this post required more time & attentionCapturing a beautiful moment of love on film is the next best thing to experiencing it & although we could've limited our list to a top whatever, we decided to post each and every film that we love & that has moved us
We expect very few people to actually read every review, see every picture, or watch every clip, (none of which we own) but we hope you enjoy what you do see.
--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.--.

Love, in our opinion is seldom perfect, but it isn't meant to be perfect, its messy & for the most part uncomfortable & out of control. But the moments that are shared within that undeniable feeling, are for all intents & purposes, "perfect". And here are some movies that depict those moments in genius fashion!

1.Casblanca:(romance)
Ironically sometimes the most romantic types of love relationships are the ones that can never be. "Casablanca" is the epitome of such a type of love. From the song, to the café, to the war, the perfect combinations of pain, joy, love & friendship.

"Take my breath away" scenes:

"Rip my heart out" Quote:"We'll always have Paris. We didn't have it before... we'd...we'd lost it until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night !"

2. Gone with the Wind: (romance)
In our opinion there is little romance in the characters of this civil war drama. But in its own charming way, the idiosyncrasies of these characters & their colorful manner give us a sense of romance & passion in the most ubsurd human form.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-490404/Gone-With-The-Wind-gets-21st-century-makeover--Rhetts-point-view.html

"Rip my heart out": Quote: Scarlett! Look at me! I've loved you more than I've ever loved any woman and I've waited for you longer than I've ever waited for any woman."

3. An American in Paris:(romance)
Nothing says love like music, and this movie says it so perfectly with the voice & dance of Gene Kelly & the setting in Paris. Could it get any more sigh-worthy than that?

4. The Inn of the Sixth Happiness:(mankind)
Love, as we know comes in so many different forms & perhaps the most noble of these is the love for mankind. When your love supersedes selfish desire & seeking the good of others is your only incentive to your actions. This movie tells the story of this form of love, embodied by a selfless woman played by lovely actress Ingrid Bergman.

5. Streetcar named Desire:(romance, sibling)
Its difficult to understand some forms of love, and sometimes we even doubt that those forms are love. But to be fair we present one of these obscure romances depicted on film. Stella & Stanley love each other above & beyond bad conditions, much of which are caused by them.

"Ay, Papi" Scene:

Memorable Quote: " Maybe he'll strike you or maybe he'd grunt & kiss you! That is, if kisses have been discovered yet!"

6. An Affair to remember:(romance)
The ultimate "chick flick". We all can remember Meg Ryan's & Rita Wilson's characters in "Sleepless in Seattle" when they are talking about this film with tears in their eyes, while the men stare in utter confusion. From the Empire state, to the terrible accident, the twists & turns of this movie pull on our heart strings till the very last scene.

7. It's a Wonderful Life:(family, romance, life)
What sense is there to have the love of a spouse and family when we don't love our life? A day without the life we have can teach us how much we do have & don't appreciate.
This Christmas classic portrays this the true meaning of the saying; "You don't appreciate what you have, until it's gone."

"Cute high school sweetheart's" Scene:

Best quote: "Remember George: no man is a failure who has friends."

8. A Roman Holiday:(romance)
Impossible love film # 2. There is always romance in a story where two people love each other but shouldn't or can't stay together for whatever reason, in this case, she's a princess & he's a poor reporter.

Memorable Scene:

9. Breakfast at Tiffany's:(romance)
Audrey Hepburn at her very finest. You can't help but love her throughout the entire film, the love affair in this film is not only between Holly Golightly and Paul, but also with you. She is sweet & cute & completely lovely, with some darkness & secrets just to make sure you are interested.

Sweetest Scene:
Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

Favorite Quote: " Is she or isn't she?"

10. West Side Story:(romance)
Music, dance, Latino gangs & Shakespearean romance make up this classic tale of a vintage- modern Romeo & Juliette.

Romantic Balcony Scene:
Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

11. My Fair Lady:(romance)
We just can't seem to get enough of Audrey, she's so easy to love and she looked good with any beau, or she made any actor look like a leading man. Either way, the love that springs between a cold & calculating Rex Harrison & a lovely but rough-around-the-edges Audrey Hepburn is amusing & charming.

"Potty-mouth" scene:
Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

Funny Quote:" Why can't a woman be more like a man?"

Dr. Zhivago:(romance)
Two women, a revolution, a doctor that carries his heart on his sleeve, a villainous man & a family secret....result? A masterpiece!

Rip-my-heart-out quote: Lara: "If we'd had children, Yuri, would you like a boy or a girl?" Zhivago: "I think we may go mad if we think about all that."

13. The Sound of Music:(romance, family)
Sometimes love hits us when we least expect it, and for the individual that we least expect.
You know how they say that you can't choose your family? On some occasions such as the one portrayed in this film, this term can also be applied for who you fall in love with. You don't always choose who to love, sometimes you just can't help it.

Lovely Julie Scene:

14. Funny Girl:(romance)
They say love is blind, I say love is blonde! Sometimes love makes us dumb & we continue to be dumb until we no longer know what we are doing. We can love so much that we lose ourselves & we are not helping anyone. This is easily seen in the relationship between Fanny and Nick in this hilarious, romantic & sad film.

Memorable Quote: "Fanny. Love him a little less. Help him a little more."

15. The Way We Were:(romance, mankind)
Sometimes love is not enough to keep two people together, sometimes the differences between them tears them apart no matter what is done to stay together.

"Rip-my-heart-out" Scene:

Don't know about you, but I like reading through the comments on you tube videos & this one expressed my thoughts exactly.

thomasmiano

  • "See ya later, kid." Robert Redford just kills me in this scene. The way he looks at Barbars Streisand.....with so much regret and longing. I just cried buckets. This ending is one of the most famous in cinema history...so terribly sad. He lets go of his true love and his only child. Hubbel is such a damn wimp and I would hate him but I can't because he is so damn sexy in every scene of this movie.

16. Somewhere in Time:(romance)
Many may consider the idea of love transcending time to be absurd, or some impossible ideal of a dreamy high school girl. But why not? Why can't it be possible? Love is one of the most wondrous and mysterious parts of life and the possibilities of where it can take us should never be limited.

17. E.T.(friendship)
Love transcends differences, and what can be more different than an alien?

"Drew crying kills me" scene:

18. My neighbor Totoro:(family, friendship)
This is such a beautiful movie, I specially like the relationship between the sisters.

19. Dirty Dancing:(romance)
Real love is the kind that you have to fight and sacrifice for. When you really care about someone you will do and give up anything for that person no matter what the cost.

Cheesy quote: "No one puts baby in a corner."

20. Stand by me:(friendship)
There are friendships that are bonded so tightly that you never forget them. The things you experience with these types of friends are burned into your memory. The trip the friends make in this movie shows both a friendship & an experience of this sort.

21. Moonstruck:(romance)
Older woman, younger man, "bad blood" between brothers, Italian music, Cher.....need I say more? Its both over the top & fascinating. Its classy while still speaking with a street New York-Italian accent. The characters in this movie are flawed & charming, you don't get them all but you want to empathize. It's a fun movie & it celebrates love in a very particular way.

Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

Fun Quote: " Y'know, you got them bad eyes, like a gypsy, I don't know why I didn't see it yesterday. Bad Luck! That's what it is. Is that all I'm ever going to have? I should have taken a rock and killed myself years ago!"

22. When Harry met Sally:(romance, friendship)
Aww & double awww!!! They don't like each other, they keep bumping into each other, they become friends & end up getting married......awwwwww.

Sweetest old people clips everrrr...awwwww:

Memorable Quote: " I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour & a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend a day with you, I can smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you're the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

23. Cyrano de Bergerac:(romance)
Love is something felt, not seen. Love at first sight does not exist, lust maybe, but not love. Love is more delicate, sublime & strong. I know, how can it be delicate & strong at the same time? Strong because it lasts, delicate because it must be nurtured. And this nurturing is what this classic story tells about. The words of a lover written with the hand of another. Where true love is shown without hope of receiving anything in return. The ugly has never been so beautiful as in this unforgettable story.

24. Ghost:(romance)
Sometimes it is hard to say those often frightening words "I love you". But you should never hesitate to do so. Life is a precious and priceless thing which can be snatched from you without notice and you never know if you will have another chance to say what it is you felt all along.

25. Little Women: (family, Romance)
Love, hardship, forgiveness, suffering , romance, struggle, happiness and even sorrow are all basic life elements that put together bring you this timeless film that will no doubt warm your heart and even make you shed a tear or two.
There is no stronger love then that of a truly united family that regardless of the waves and storms life throws their way and still manages to pull through together.

26. Pretty Woman: (romance)
Story of a rich man and a lucky prostitute. I think 1990 was the year most women wanted to be hookers...long legs & a gigantic smile was probably also in high demand!

Most "romantic" quote ever: " You and I are such similar creatures Vivian. We both screw people for money."

27. Edward Scissorhands:(romance, mankind)
Falling in love with a man with scissors for hands and a freaky look would probably be pretty terrifying if it were any other man but Johnny Depp. Edward Scissorhands would have never been the cult figure he is today, if it would've been anyone else but Johnny. "We love you Johnny"...(swoon, faint)

28. Como agua para chocolate:(romance, family)
Tradition is probably the worst thing that can get in the way of love. Tradition a resistance to change & nothing good ever comes of it. When two people that love each other are controlled to the degree of losing their love and they live by the laws imposed by others because of selfishness & fear; although it may work for a passionate & dramatic story, in reality its very pathetic. This film is rich in tradition(for better or for worse), culture, Mexican gastronomy and a suppressed, lusty & passionate love story.

"Orgasmic food" Scene:

29. Four Weddings & a Funeral:(romance)
Sometimes timing can be all off, sometimes we don't take advantage of the moments we have to say what we feel, but if its real love,  you most likely get another chance.

30. Benny and Joon:(romance, siblings)
This movie deals with important & serious subjects in a kind and happy way, thanks to Sam. ---A lovable "nut".

31. Always:(romance)
Its hard to let someone go when we go through break-ups, it must be almost impossible when they pass away. Always shows how difficult it might be for the person that dies, and the pain that can come from losing the person they love.

32. Hedwig and the Angry Inch
The movie with one of my favorite songs called "The Origin of Love", it speaks of Plato's Symposium on the origins of love (thanks Josh).

33. A River Runs through it:(family)

Brad Pitt........no more to say!

Father and sons

34. Joe vs. the Volcano:(romance, self, life)
Although this film is full of comedy & entertainment, there are moments that are undeniably meaningful, I will let the scenes speak for themselves.

"How BIG" Scene:

"Awake" Scene:

35. What's eating Gilbert Grape:(family)
Ok, if you haven't noticed yet, we love Johnny Depp. When we think of love, there is a small place in our.....umm minds, completely reserved for him. But seriously, love in this movie is probably best expressed in the relationships between the brothers, the younger brother is acted by Leonardo Di'Caprio who received his first Oscar nomination for this film.

36. Don Juan de Marco:(romance)
Could there be a film that portrays love, passion, and romance any better then the legendary Don Juan de Marco? I think not.

"Swoon" Quote: There are only four questions of value in life, Don Octavio. What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same: only love."

37. Patch Adams: (mankind, life)
Not much explanation is needed to understand why this movie is in this list. We think that love for life is something that almost automatically produces love for those around you & the positive affect you can have on others is limitless.

38. City of Joy: (mankind)
Sometimes even when we may feel that love for life is impossible, life itself can open our eyes to the wonders that it holds, even in the worst of situations, making you feel useful & ultimately finding the meaning we long for.

All that is not given is lost

39. Sleepless in Seattle:(romance, family)
This scene says it all:

"Magic" Scene:

40. Fried Green Tomatoes:(friendship)
Friendship is in our opinion the purest form of love, it goes beyond sex, age, color, nationality, its' just something that is....without any reason except to give us happiness.

"Fiercest" Quote: "Secret's in the sauce."

41. Legends of the Fall:(romance, family, fraternal love)
This movie is packed with drama, adventure, suspense, mysticism and beauty. Oh yeah, lots and lots of beauty. Fraternal love can sometimes surpass the "natural" boundaries of selfless love, and this story shows just that.

Heart-wrenching Scene:

42. The English Patient:(romance)
This movie is a masterpiece, from the music, to the cinematography, to the acting.
Its a visual poem, it takes your breath away.

"Rip-my-heart-out"Quote:Every night I cut out my heart. But in the morning it was full again.".

43. When a Man Loves a Woman: (romance, family)
"If she is bad, he can't see it, she can do no wrong." This line in the song "When a man loves a woman" probably describes this film the best.

44. Wuthering Heights: (romance)
Impossible love movie # 3. The classic of classics when it comes to painful impossible love stories. Heathcliff is a tortured soul that strives to deserve the "perfect" woman. Cathy, the lively, passionate young woman that doesn't know the pain she has caused. Wuthering Heights is a love story that hurts through & through, but anyone that's experienced love, knows that pain comes with the package.

Wuthering Heights starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche

Rip-your-heart-out Quote:"Why did you betray your own heart, Cathy? You loved me. And what right had you to leave me? The poor fancy you felt for Linton? Nothing that God or Satan could inflict would have parted us. You of your own will did it. I've not broken your heart Cathy, you have broken it. And in breaking it, you've broken mine."

45. Only You: (romance)
Is there such a thing as "soul mates"? In this movie the topic is left unresolved, but who cares, Robert Downey Jr. is HOT!!!

46. Great Expectations: (romance)
Getting your heart broken is something that can happen when you take the risk & fall in love with someone. Sometimes you love someone so much & for so long that you practically let them break your heart over and over again.

"Rip-my-heart -out" song:

47. Braveheart:(romance)
Despite the historical truth in this movie, the fictional love stories in it are very passionate, romantic & change the course of history....yay!

48. French Kiss:(romance)
There's this great quote that goes: " A man's rejection is God's protection." and we feel that it applies to the story in this movie. If a man rejects you or leaves you ladies, then maybe, just maybe its a good thing........think about it!

meg-ryan.jpg

49. Romeo & Juliet:(romance)
Franco Zeffireli's version of Romeo and Juliet is magic, even though we know the characters already, the portrayal of these by Olivia Hussey and Laonard Whiting  is utter perfection, they move you. Baz Luhrmann's 1996 version was a great attempt, but fell terribly short, still it was good "modern" version with guns on the streets of Mexico......ahhh but of course!
Here are a few pictures of both versions & the clip that compares both.

romjuli - romeo-and-juliet-1968 photo
"Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight!
For I never saw true beauty till this night".

"For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss."

"Sin from my lips? O  trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again."

"Kissing you " song:

50. Titanic:(romance)
I think this kind of love story only works if someone dies, the romantic in me says "Oh, how sweet, I hope they stay together forever." the cynic in me says, "It would have never really worked, touching land they would've gone back to being pampered rich girl & dirty gutter-rat." But no, he dies & we still believe in love...plus the car scene is epic!

Cheesiest romantic scene:

51. Shakespeare in love:(romance)
Although I highly doubt this story ever took place, or any like it, its funny and cute & the hopeless romantic in us is truly nourished by it.

"Can't believe he kissed a boy" scene:
Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

52. What Dreams May Come:(romance, family)
Again we touch on the subject of soul mates. This movie is amazing, the concept is magical, using the setting of Dante's inferno for the journey he takes in the afterlife to find his wife is genius.
So well made & so dramatic.

"Blue tree" Scene:

Rip-my-heart-out Quote: Thank you for every kindness. thank you for our children. For the first time I saw them. Thank you for being somene I was always proud to be with. Fr your guts, for your sweetness. For hw you always looked, for how I always wanted to touch you. God, you were my life, I apologise for every time I ever failed you. Especially this one...

53. Bridget Jones Diary:(romance)
Sometimes out own lack of self-esteem makes us jeopardize the chance we have at happiness with someone that loves us as much as we want to be loved.
Tip to learn from movie: Don't leave stupid journals/diaries laying around your house for all to see, better yet.....at 30+ maybe diary-writing should be kept to a minimum....

54. Ever After:(romance)
The story of Cinderella, is one of those stories I never did quite understand. She by birth was of noble blood an yet she was a servant because her step-mother said so. Maybe I just need to find & read the original. But anyway, this particular version is great to me because she likes to read & her & the prince find intellectual affinity, which makes for some witty discussions.

55. The Princess and the Warrior:(romance)
One of my favorite German films. Its dramatic & sexy and touching. The highly unique story & interesting characters keep you interested while giving you a romantic story with little words & a lot of action. This romantic movie is probably good for men as well as women.

56. Original Sin:(Romance)
Described in one word: Sexy!

Intense quote: " Whore! Liar! Thief! Don't you see? Don't you see that I cannot breath without you? I cannot live without you? Don't you see that? Don't you see how much I love you?"

57. Moulin Rouge:(romance)
They don't tire of making movies of men falling in love and wanting to keep a woman of low morals, maybe 'cause in real life that is nearly impossible to find. (not everyone is as lucky as we are)

58. Lolita
This very controversial story of a pedo & a precocious pre-teen girl.  It's more of an obsession than love from him to her & its more of a dependency because of her age from her to him.
But it's a great film & the settings are so perfect, the takes are upbeat & the story very very dramatic. I personally love the colors, her sailor suit with bright red lipstick look enchanting.

59. Secretary:(romance)
Speaking of strange love, this film is in broad strokes as follows: Masochist meets Sadist & love is born.

60. Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind:(romance)
A brilliant film that touches on the topic of forgetting someone that you have separated from in order to avoid the pain. I think its too high a price to pay!

Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

Sweetest Quote: "I could die right now, Clem. I'm just .......happy. I've never felt that before. I'm just exactly where I want to be."

61. Beyond Borders:(romance, mankind)
We would fall in love with Clive Owen in  a heart beat if he was a doctor out saving the world while still looking steamy. Angelina Jolies character did &...died. Go figure....maybe you should leave heroes to be heroes alone. (we love this review)

Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen

62. About a boy:(friendship)
As the saying goes, " No man is an island", we always affect someone, and in so doing that, we develop feelings ourselves, its inevitable & sometimes those feeling can be a lot like love & no matter how uncomfortable they are, we tend to enjoy them.

63. Finding Nemo:(family)
The love of a parent is on the strongest forms of love, because your children are like a small part of you, usually the most important part. I would like to believe that the love of any parent will impulse them to do as Marlin did in this movie.

64. I am Sam:(family)
This is such a beautiful movie, I cried buckets. Love is probably best expressed by children!

"Rip-my-heat-out" Quote:"I want no other daddy but you. "

65. 50 first dates:(romance)
Awww...forget everything every night? Great way to keep the romance alive.

66. The Notebook:(romance)
Probably the best romance movie of the last decade. I know more than one person I know  that made some serious changes in their lives thanks to this movie, me included!

"Heart-beat.skipping" quote: "So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday."

67. Rabbit without ears:(romance)
I so love this movie, I don't even know where to start, (even though my German friend says its very "Hollywood") I think it depicts the sweet side of Germany. The whole scenery, the perfect sunlight throughout the whole movie, like a perpetual sunset. Its smart & witty, sweet & funny.

WE LOVE YOU LUDO!
OH, YES WE DO!

68. Under the Tuscan Sun:(romance, family)
A visual feast!

Interesting Quote: "Every day I watch for the old man with the flowers, and I wonder, was he born here? Did he love someone here? Did he lose someone here? He doesn't seem as curious about me, but that's all right. These days I'm something of a loner myself."

69. Broke back Mountain:(romance)
One of the most romantic films of our time & also very polemic. I think a lot of people didn't give it a chance, mainly men, for obvious reasons. But it was beautifully & tastefully projected, a masterpiece that received a lot of acclaim & prizes; and rightfully so.

70. 500 days of Summer:(romance)
From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

71. Up:(family, friendship)
I think this scene says all we have to say about this movie.

Tear-Jerking scene:

72. Mama Mia!: (romance)
Who doesn't love Abba? Who doesn't love a Greek island? And what about Meryl Streep? This movie is a gay paradise! But we loved it so much!!!

73. Love Actually ( romance, family)
Not much to say about this film except that its so so cute!

74. Never been kissed (romance)
Very very cute! Aah the first kiss....I'm so glad mine wasn't in a stadium full of people, it would've been a little awkward to say the least!

75.The Wedding Date ( romance, family)
Its so wonderful when the whore is the man not the woman! This particular one is so sexy that yeah, he is worth keeping. I wonder how you tell your family after?

"Breath-taking" Quote: "I'd rather fight with you than make love with anyone else."

76.Bridges of Madison County (romance, family)
You don't have to be young & single to have a strong, passionate affair. Not only is it valid, but sometimes even necessary.

77.Slumdog Millionaire ( romance)
Love makes you strive hard to make everything possible.

78.He's just not that into you (romance)
Stay away from imposed rules when it comes to love, it will just make you unhappy!

Good Quote: "I may dissect each little thing and put myself out there so much but at least that means that I still care. Oh! You've think you won because women are expendable to you. You may not get hurt or make an ass of yourself that way but you don't fall in love that way either. You have not won. You're alone. I may do a lot of stupid shit but I'm still a lot closer to love than you are. "

79.Going the Distance (romance)
Long distance relationships are tough on the couples that decide to venture into the world of phone calls, emails & webcams, and seeing each other every few months can wear badly on the relationship. I guess if you want it bad enough, something will work out, but usually someone has to sacrifice a plan or two, or wait it out & see what happens.

80.Dear John (romance)
War breaks so many couples apart, this movie depicts one of these stories.

Movie Videos & Movie Scenes at MOVIECLIPS.com

81. Lion King (family)

Another example of what a parent might do for their child.

82. Cruel Intentions ( romance)
This modernized version of the novel turned film "Dangerous Liaisons", is sexy, sweet & tragic. And it has the very typical school kid environment that Hollywood adores.

Cute teeny-bop quote: Annete: "I'm impressed" Sebastian: "I'm in love."

83. Heavenly Creatures ( friendship)
When crazy introvert meets crazy neglected child, and they both happen to be teenage girls with lesbian tendencies, violence can ensue if you try to tear them apart. This film is based on a true story of an insane friendship &  a love that could only be understood by the ones that partook in it.

84. Chocolat (romance, life, chocolate)
Two beautiful people & lots & lots of chocolate, what do you get? A succulent film that also has a great lesson learning story line, imagine that!

85. Amelie ( romance, life)
One of the most beautiful films we have ever seen. We love the music, the city, the colors, the apartment, the friends, the metro, the cafe, the motorcycle, the streets, the thoughts, the questions, the games, the gnome, the dad, the stories. So beautiful!

"
"I can relate" Quote: "She doesn't relate to other people. She was always a lonely child. "

86. He loves me, he loves me not
Its hard to talk about this film without completely spoiling the plot, all I can say is that its impossible not to "love" Audrey Tautou's irrational character in this film.

87. Run, Lola, Run ( person)
Electronic music & different versions of the same event make you wonder why you are watching this film and not dancing, but you want to know if in fact she does help her boyfriend from a certain death. Lots of running, all in the name of love.

88. The Revolutionary Road (relationship)
Plans & love....love & plans.....when we finally decide to be with the person we love "forever" & get married we begin to make plans, sometimes  peoples plans vary too much & love becomes a crutch to never agree to a plan that may really work.

89. Atonement (romance)
So sad, misunderstandings & dishonesty & jealousy can destroy everything.

I might even love this dress more than the movie.

90. Sense and Sensibility ( romance, family)
People deal with their feelings in different ways & here you see two people that are polar opposites, Elinor & Marianne, one controlled & timid and the other lively & passionate.

Desperate Elinor Quote: "What do you know of my heart? What do you know of anything but your own suffering. For weeks, Marianne, I've had this pressing on me without being at liberty to speak of it to a single creature. It was forced on me by the very person whose prior claims ruined all my hope. I have endured her exultations again and again whilst knowing myself to be divided from Edward forever. Believe me, Marianne, had I not been bound to silence I could have provided proof enough of a broken heart, even for you."

91. Dot the i (romance)
An interesting film, of passion, love & lies, with turns & twists that will keep you guessing.

92. Lady Jane ( romance, country)
The love that is portrayed in this film is a very natural form of love that is often born in the midst of conflict & bonding with a fellow victim is inevitable, specially if you have religion & idealism in common, it doesn't hurt if they are adorable either.

93. The Phantom of the Opera (romance)
Love and obsession, maybe two sides of the same coin, or maybe just the first gone very very wrong!

Musical Quote: "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime. Lead me, save me from my solitude. Say you'll want me with you here beside you. Anywhere you go, let me go too. Christine, that's all I ask of..."

94. Thelma and Louise (friendship)
One of the best known scenes in Hollywood film history.  Love between friends, they both shared the opinion that death was better than jail. Go friendship!!!

95. How to make an American Quilt ( romance, family, friendship, siblings)
I just love a film that portrays different people's stories & how their lives evolve & change & dreams come & go, love grows, weakens, or disappears. This movie is beautifully made, with a southern touch & reflecting beautiful southern female strength. ( a similar film is The Joy Luck Club, also very powerful...maybe even more so)

96. The Red Violin (romance, life, music)
This film is magical, enchanting, sad, happy, passionate & all in all breathtaking. It tells of an instrument that journeys around the world. touching the lives of so many throughout the decades. The music, the scenery and the languages make this film a wonder to behold.

97. The Constant Gardener (romance, mankind)
In this powerful film we see a man impulsed to leave his comfort zone & fight for something that he would've probably never fought for had in not been for the death of his wife. Its a moving film & its so much more than a love story.

98. Immortal Beloved (romance)
The strange story of composer Ludwig Beethoven and his love affair with a mysterious woman. It's an agonizing journey of love, heartbreak, disappointment, bitterness & finally and too late, forgiveness. All of this to the passionate & enchanting music of that classic era.

Spoiler Alert!!! Best Scene in the history of love scenes:

Best Quote: Utter nonsense. If you hear a marching band, is your soul exalted? No, you march. If you hear a waltz, you dance. If you hear a mass, you take communion. It is the power of music to carry one directly into the mental state of the composer. The listener has no choice. It is like hypnotism. So, now... What was in my mind when I wrote this? Hmm? A man is trying to reach his lover. His carriage has broken down in the rain. The wheels stuck in the mud. She will only wait so long. This... is the sound of his agitation. "This is how it is... ," the music is saying. "Not how you are used to being. Not how you are used to thinking. But like this."

99. Forrest Gump (life, family, romance)
Do people with less mental faculties have a greater capacity to love? Perhaps, selflessness goes hand in hand with what people perceive as love.
But this film is beautiful because its seen through the eyes of a person that loves with no limits.

100. Pride and Prejudice (romance)
We've always found this story awful tacky  (a family desiring above all to have daughters married off to wealthy men) & the movie even more, but you can't help but feel at least some infatuation for Mr. Darcy.

A Mr. Darcy Quote: "You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject forever."

101. Paris Je t'aime (life)
20 filmmakers, 20 moments, fused together with the undeniable & magical bond that is "Paris and love."
